The Sleeping for Tomorrow project is a social art project created by the Israeli-German visual artist
Amit Goffer |

1. Background:
Facing unpredicted worldwide uncertainty and changes, we discover significant internal and external changes that affect all human beings: The values and the way we live, questions about values, global and political issues, and intense emotions arise, such as stress and overwhelming hope, to name a few. We strive to communicate in ways we never thought we would need, which are now necessary in our daily lives. The unfolding global story of the pandemic has raised questions about our values, and the validity of familiar norms which we live by and believe in. There is a global search for the “new” stable and the “new” consistent in this world whose story is still being written as we speak. 2. Project goals: This work aims to connect you and others worldwide in the name of art and people. It brings people closer, reflecting on the past, the present, and beyond. It also tries to connect people from different countries, religions, and life stages and to create communication between people. It dreams of a new vision of the world, the environment, and everyone within it. This is a work in progress, It is developing daily with new features and information (connecting the physical and digital worlds, conversations and discussions-ideas about art and emotionality in our time, behind-the-scene stories, videos, and information on how the work was created and changed over time). |
* The vision is to create the connection of a worldwide network of human voices and emotions by embracing and merging the physical and virtual spaces.
** Currently, we are searching for project partners who are interested in the following: *The fastest & easiest is to share the virtual experience and the project website by putting up different colorful posters with QR codes - in cities, urban public places, and art/culture institutions- it will send them to the virtual experience for their specific country, and a link to the project's entire website, *Temporarily installing the WW2-bunker / Sleeping for Tomorrow #0.1 existing ready installation *Development of more installations in new places, for or new site-specific installations in specific locations with recording and hearing box ** *Talks & Discussions |

The internet permits new possibilities for communication.
For example, we can go into virtual amorphous bent space with digital software (Virtual Experience) connected to the world wide web- by Mobile Phone/ Computer. Via a website created by the artist, visitors can enter and exit this virtual bunker and explore the surrounding areas and the new experience. In this bunker on the website, there is also a feature that can connect to people all over the world to hear, record, and share photos of a spark of our own experience, short significant moments of people here / around the world wondering about our existence, time, and space. With the help of a special recording system located inside the physical bunker and the digital software on the website, people inside the bunker and on the internet can hear and record the voices of themselves and other people as well as share images and memories, connecting to the greater story of us all. * The development of a virtual map shown on the website: This map feature connects all of the countries that people went into using the virtual project and also connects the people that joined and reacted to the physical bunker parameters and Sleeping for Tomorrow #1. The interaction by countries and locations, visitors in “real life,” virtual visitors, and physical activity are shown on the map. These features were released in the middle of January 2022 For the map * A visual platform shows new networks by collaborating with the project physically or virtually. |
This virtual network shows different events and engagement
with cultural institutions, conversations, and interviews. . The digital software* Recording and hearing boxes installed in the one-man bunker |

* Installing existing part of the project: the temporary installation of the WW2- The bunker is being exhibited in the sculpture garden Kunsthaus NRW Kornelimünster Aachen, Germany. And is free to move to a new location. Sleeping for Tomorrow #0.1 available from July- after programming and adjustment according to the country it will be shown * Development of more installations inside existing/ new places: for or new site-specific installations in specific locations with recording and hearing boxes similar to the one installed in the one-man bunker and at the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, in significant urban/natural places all over the world. * Possible development in cooperation with the communities of the regions: This collaboration also includes building it on-site by the locally involved people, bringing the uniqueness of the history into account when building a site-specific installation. * In all of the installations, there will be one thing similar: It is a place situated inside the space, but it still has a connection to the outside world and will become part of the global project system reflected in the animation on the website. *Talks & Discussions From mid-2023, we would like to focus on developing and being in contact with more artists from different parts of the world and from the global cultural community, who focus on involvement in society, conflicts, confidence in the unknown, and how art can be a bridge in this situation—starting with Myanmar at the mid June. |
